Keeping a child’s room clean is one of the most difficult parts of raising a child, and children’s storage is a big part of that. Without the storage units available to keep everything organized, you’re going to be defeated before you even start. By actively maintaining your childrens storage units, you’ll be on your way to keeping everything organized.
Children’s toy storage is as simple or as difficult as you want to make it. If your child has a lot of toys that have no real order or organization, then a regular toy box will probably work best for you. This is very much a ‘set it and forget it’ kind of mentality, just throw the toys in there and close the lid. It can work to an extent, but at some point your child will just have too much to hide. So some other system is in order.
A multi-compartment children’s storage unit will go a long way in keeping things in order on a basic level. The different compartments will offer you a simple way to keep things in place, and can help in encouraging your child to keep things neat herself – you could make a game of putting things away, for example. These units can be found in wood, plastic, or even canvas, which would give you piece of mind that your child wouldn’t hurt themselves if they fell against it.
Storage bins would be the next step up. These are similar to the compartments, except each compartment has its own bin that you can use to keep everything in place. The bins will help keep the clutter in each compartment in order, and if you just want your child to play with one set of toys at a time, you can just pull a bin out with instructions that no other bins are allowed to come out until the first one is put away. There are even wooden storage containers that will only allow one bin at a time to come out!
Finally, if your child enjoys sports or has a lot of balls and equipment, a storage basket or bag can work wonders. Hang the bag on the closet door and forget about it until you need it, or place the basket in the bedroom or in the garage to be used when he needs it. Sometimes simple solutions work best.
Children storage is a simple way to keep clutter down and cleanliness up. A small investment in materials will pay off in the long run, so I encourage you to take that first step as soon as you can.
