If you’re giving away a present and need to wrap it, I’ve always used cardboard gift boxes for the occasion. The boxes are flexible in usage yet sturdy enough to hold just about anything, and so they make the most efficient and affordable way to make sure your gift looks great. Here are three great reasons to use them yourself.
Versatility
If you have white cardboard gift boxes available, it’s like you have a blank sheet of paper to draw on. You can wrap them in any kind of paper you want – gift paper, comic paper, or even the business section of the New York Times – and it will look good while matching the personality of the wrapper or the receiver. But that’s just the start. What if you had a series of small cardboard gift boxes that you drew pictures on? Or if you’re wrapping something for your child to give away, have them draw on it for a unique box that will draw everyone’s eye. Or my favorite trick, buy a much larger box than necessary, and fill it with enough paper and material that the receiver needs to hunt for the present a bit. I only suggest doing this if it’s a present that you know they will appreciate though – if not, you may end up accidentally disappointing them instead!
Reusability
If you’re just gotten a gift and you want to reuse the box, chances are it won’t be a problem. Just carefully remove the paper and the tape, and you have your own blank slate. I have family members who keep using the same box over and over again, and just give the box back and worth each Christmas or birthday. It’s turned into a game for them. This is also possible due to the strength of the cardboard itself. It’s flexible yet sturdy, and will take a real beating before it’s not usable anymore.
Affordable
The boxes are cheap, period. You can buy cardboard gift boxes wholesale, or just purchase something of your own and use the box it comes in. Chances are you actually have something in your home in a box that you could use if you were pressed for time and needed it right away. Otherwise, just get online, or ask for an extra box the next time you go shopping for clothes.
If you’re looking for a gift, cardboard boxes are the best way to wrap it. You can be creative for a very low cost, and then do it again when you get the box back. In my opinion, it lasts longer than gift bags, and just looks more original.
